The N.C. Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program was created by the N.C. Legislature in 1983. The goal of the GAL program is to represent children who have been adjudicated as neglected and/or abused. The Guardian Ad Litem Association (GALA) is a non-profit organization that helps support these children and the volunteers who work with them by providing supplemental funding for clothes, school supplies, summer camps and athletics.
Working with paid staff of the N.C. Courts, our volunteers are a voice for children in the court system. We have several training classes per year for new volunteers who want to make a difference for our community and the children in it.
