About Us

The Asheville Area Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Association was incorporated as a non-profit in 1992 by a dedicated group of Guardian ad Litem volunteers that wanted to do more to support the 28th Judicial District Guardian ad Litem Program. They started with a goal to provide continuing education opportunities for Guardian ad Litem volunteers. Soon thereafter they established the Scholarship Program (now named the Children’s Assistance Fund) to benefit the children served by the Guardian ad Litem Program. The organization’s name was changed in 2014 to Guardian ad Litem Association of Buncombe County but the goals remain the same: support the work of the Guardian ad Litem volunteers and support the children served by the program. To this day, GALABC is completely volunteer-driven; they have no paid staff.

Thank you to everyone who came out for a tasty beverage and social mingling this evening at Ginger's Revenge Craft Brewery & Tasting Room. Our GALABC president, Tom, and treasurer, Ed, took a minute to offer a smile :)
